Lot 2002
Cincinnati, OH. Unknown Issuer. 18__ $5-3-2-1 Uncut Sheet of Remainders. PCGS Currency Choice About New 58PPQ. This enigmatic "Post Note" issue, with the notes made payable to "James Monroe or bearer," is from an unknown Cincinnati issuer from the 1830s. While the origin of these notes is shrouded in mystery, they are popular with collectors--especially since a small hoard of approximately 100 sheets, handled by this cataloger, turned up a decade ago to supply the market with nice examples. A corner fold in the selvage is the only grade-limiting factor on this sheet.
Estimated Value $200 - 300.

Lot 2006
Jamaica, VT. West River Bank. July 1, 18__ $1-2-3-5 Uncut Sheet of Remainders. PCGS Currency Very Choice New 64. These notes are heavily sought by collectors because of their elegant engravings that feature a numismatic connection--Seated Liberty silver dollars are surrounded by cherubs in the central vignette, in quantities equal to the denomination of each note. A couple of small pinholes are noted for accuracy, and no doubt limited the grade on this otherwise pristine sheet.
Estimated Value $400 - 500.

Lot 2008
New Orleans, LA. New Orleans Canal & Banking Co. $1000 18__ Remainder. PCGS Currency About New 55. This is a decent example of a scarcer high denomination remainder that is difficult to locate in pristine grades because the sheets from which these notes came was stored in humid conditions for more than a century. The paper is a touch toned on this example, as is normal, and there is some very minor handling that is comensurate with the grade.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
